2024 Komunitas Penjaga Pulau Scholarship

Grant that supported by AFCIA to research on Soil C-Organic and Heavy metals in 8 Silvofishery ponds and natural mangrove.

“This scholarship provides invaluble experience for me as an environmental activist. This research was conducted in a mangrove area that has an important role for the coastal ecosystem, such as a preventative for abrasion, carbon absorbing water intrusion.
I learned a lot about scientific research techniques and methods, such as coring sample techniques to obtain accurate soil layers and scientific methodology to ensure that the data produced can be used for heavy metal analysis and soil carbon content. However, there are several obstacles in the field, such as difficult area access and dynamic environmental conditions, consequently providing importance planning and good teamwork is crutial. Through this research, I understand the importance of mangrove ecosystems in mitigating and adapting to climate change and its impact on the quality of the coastal environment. Hopefully the results of this research can make a real contribution to efforts to conserve mangroves and manage the environment sustainably”

“Penjaga Pulau Scholarship has helped me a lot, both in term of financial and self-development. I can learn new research methodology and experience research activity from the beginning. Furthermore, I got invaluable opportunity to participate in research activities that enriched my skills and experiences to prepare myself before working.
The most memorable and challenging experience for me was sampling process because it has different areas such as Mangrove Ecosystem, Silvo-fishery, and Ponds. The sampling points were in the central of the mangrove ecosystem, Silvo-fishery, and pond which affected by tides. However, these challenges did not hamper my enthusiasm for this activity. For those of you who want to apply, never hesitate to try. Prepare yourself as best you can and be sure that this opportunity is very useful. I would like to thank Mrs. Eni Hidayati as the Co-Founder of Komunitas Penjaga Pulau for this amazing opportunity. I am committed to making the most of this scholarship and continuing to contribute to the community. Thank you for listening to my story. Hopefully this can be an inspiration for all of you”
